Longmeadow Resue Ranch is hosting its annual Spring Fling
for families on April 20. The fun includes an up close look at the Longmeadow Rescue Ranch horses, professional riding demonstrations, a tour of the state-of the art horse farm and animal rehabilitation facility, wagon rides, and lots more.
Bring your kids to this annual free youth day to enjoy lots of fun activities, including pony rides, a petting zoo, games, entertainment, cotton candy, sno cones and lots of other treats.
1-4 p.m. at Ellisville Elks Lodge, 1007 New Ballwin Road, Ballwin (across from the fire station in Castlewood).
Meet the Machines is now in its 9th year, introducing children to the
heavy equipment used in construction. Kids ages 3-15 and their parents can climb aboard and explore giant excavation and hoisting machinery, participate in educational activities, such as "digging" for prizes, and operating a crane via a training simulator.
Kids can learn magic tricks from real magicians, along with circus skills like jugglin
g, balacing feathers, twirling ribbons, and how to twist balloon animals. They also get to practice performing in front of others, developing confidence and performance skills.
Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Affton White-Rogers Community Center. Designed for ages 6-12. Presented by Abra Kid Abra.
Kids of all ages are invited to ride the trains at Kircher Park.
The steam and diesel trains are operated by the St. Louis Live Steamers, a nonprofit organization interested in the construction of large-scale model railroads.
Families with kids ages 10 and up can take an evening walk through the wetlands at Columbia Bottom and discover nature through the sights and sounds that abound there. Migrating waterfowl use these wetlands for food and rest on their long journeys in fall and spring.
Several species of toads and frogs use these wetlands at breeding time and choruses fill the night. Be sure to dress for the weather and wear boots or shoes that can get muddy. The hike may be up to 3 miles. Meet at the Visitor Center.
Washington University in St. Louis Baseball hosts a week-long baseball day camp in which boys and girls will learn baseball basics, play in the sun (and shade) and best of all - have FUN! With an age-appropriate curriculum and a safe environment, our college baseball coaches will show your son or daughter what it takes to be a Lil' Bear through instruction, games, wiffle ball, and – because every kid wants to get in the pool – SWIM TIME!
