On November 4, the grounds of Laumeier Sculpture Park will be filled with 500 elementary school students from across the St. Louis area. These incredible children, many of whom have never met one another, will experience a life-changing connection – through their laughter, their dance and one very, very long red cord.
When I was trying to figure out the best education option for Liv, I tossed around home schooling but eventually
decided it wasn’t right for her personality. Both she and my son are very social creatures, and I saw my future more as an activities coordinator than a teacher.
I only know a handful of people who home school their kids, and gosh, I have to hand it to you all, it seems like a lot of hoo ha. And by hoo ha I mean work. I’ve been told, however, that there’s tons of stuff out there specifically for home schoolers if I kept my eyes open. And, low and behold, there is.
Fazio’s Rock Academy is the summer destination for the aspiring rock star in your life! Campers attend one-week or two-week sessions (8:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. daily) where they form a real band, choose a band name, write their own music, pose for a photo shoot and conclude with a live concert with special guest appearances by professional rock artists! Fazio's Rock Academy is for Guitarists, Vocalists, Bassists and Keyboardists between the ages of 9-17 years.
Two sessions are offered: July 15-19; and July 22-26. Each session is $399, which includes print music and a t-shirt. Ask about a discounted rate for two-week enrollment.
