Join Dr. Russell Hyken, a St. Louis educational psychologist,
as he presents strategies to help you communicate better with your pre-teen. If "withdrawn," "moody" or "misunderstood" describes your pre-teen, you'll learn ways to help your child through what might feel like the hardest time in his or her life. This workshop is a must for anyone with a middle school student.
The St. Louis Public School District has been awarded a
grant valued at $10,900 from the Innovative Technology Education Fund to provide iPads in six self-contained autism classrooms serving students in grades 9-12 at Gateway Institute of Technology High School.
Known as the Learning and Communicating Using iPads Project, the District will incorporate the iPads into instructional learning by utilizing applications recommended by Autism Speaks, the nation’s largest autism science and advocacy organization, and by providing two full days of technical training for teachers and paraprofessionals by Apple, the creator of the iPad.
Teachers have this network thing going on. Most of our social
circles include other teachers (yeah, we like to hang out with ourselves), where we get to talk about our practice and share ideas. We have countless message boards, blogs and websites to hover around. Basically, we can't stop searching for something ‘new’ to bring to our classrooms.
This summer I spent a week in Nantucket with an eclectic group of friends, none of whom were teachers. But like any addict, I needed my fix, and so between vicious games of Hearts or Scrabble, beach trips, bike rides or eating (oh my, the eating!), I managed to lure almost everyone into a chat or two about their child’s education.
Chesterfield Montessori School is opening its annual
parenting seminars to the public for the first time this year. These evening events provide families with a deeper understanding of the remarkable world of Montessori education, gain insight into how their children learn, and help them to learn how to bring Montessori into their home environment.
Come for a week or play at the J all summer. We offer sports, arts and nature, a brand new camp pavilion (Creve Coeur) and new camps for 2012 like Circus, Lacrosse, Girls' Soccer, Magical Musical Tour and more! Campers swim in our beautiful pools every day and receive Red Cross swim instruction. Two convenient locations (Creve Coeur and Chesterfield).
