Free Vision Screenings at the Saint Louis Science Center Sponsored by Missouri Lion's Eye Research Foundation

Event Date:
Sat, 07/09/2011
Free vision screenings are available for any child 6 months or older with no appointment.

Most parents think they would know if their kids had vision problems – their children would squint, sit too close to the TV or complain about fuzzy vision. The truth is, five percent of preschoolers have amblyopia, or “lazy eye,” but only 15 percent of kids under age five ever undergo an eye exam, simply because they display no outward symptoms or can’t verbalize their poor eyesight. Unfortunately, if left untreated, these conditions can have a negative effect on a child’s ability to learn in school and can lead to permanent vision loss.
