Camp F.R.E.S.H. is a summer day camp at Fontbonne University that takes kids on an interactive, hands-on journey toward better health. The camp, which emphasizes nutrition, wellness, physical exercise and creativity, is open to 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th graders and is hosted by Fontbonne University's Human Environmental Science department.
One year ago this month the National Restaurant Association had me really looking forward to 2012 with its top 10 list of predictions for culinary trends in the new year:
World hunger is the focus of St. Louis World Food Day and a
special effort at John Burroughs School to package meals for hungry and critically malnourished children in Tanzania.
World Health Organization statistics suggest that a child dies every six seconds from malnutrition and related illnesses, and World Food Day is designed to increase understanding of this problem and also take action to stop it.
Kids are welcome to come to this story time dressed in their Halloween costume. They'll hear a Halloween-themed story and enjoy a healthy snack for a treat. Then, all the participants will parade around the store to get more healthy treats.
