Celebrate Missouri Botanical Garden founder Henry Shaw’s 212th birthday. Admission is free for all visitors from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tour the Garden’s historic Museum Building (normally closed to the public) and Tower Grove House, Shaw’s original country home, both open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Visit the Doris I. Schnuck Children’s Garden for a special heirloom vegetable planting activity in honor of Henry (one per child, while supplies last).
Kids can explore the Missouri Botanical Garden looking for plants native to China. They'll learn about the plants' special meanings and importance.
For children ages 6-12 with an adult. Walk-ins welcome! Meet at the Children's Garden ticket fort at the Missouri Botanical Garden. 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-2:30 p.m. Free for Garden members; $3 for children ages 6-12.
Great Green Adventures for kids are held at the Missouri Botanical Garden the third Saturday of every month.
Naturalists will be on hand to help your child “Fill the Bill,” an educational activity that examines birds and their feeding habits. Every bird’s beak is specifically adapted to their unique diet. Explore how the shape and size of a bird’s beak can tell you about what that bird eats. Stop by for a few minutes or an hour. No registration is required. Hop aboard a narrated wagon ride around Shaw Nature Reserve’s three-mile Trail House Loop Road. The ride stops at the Trail House and wetland bus stop. It’s a great way to shorten the hike to the river or to the wetlands if you have small children or non-hikers in your group. With an age-appropriate curriculum and a safe environment, our college baseball coaches will show your son or daughter what it takes to be a Lil' Bear through instruction, games, wiffle ball, and – because every kid wants to get in the pool – SWIM TIME!
