The St. Louis Public School District will once again join forces with the St. Louis Community Empowerment Foundation to present the 2012 St. Louis Public Schools Back to School & Community Empowerment Festival on Saturday, August 4, from 9 am until 1 p.m. The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis is serving as a co-sponsor of this year’s festival.

The St. Louis Public School District has been awarded a
grant valued at $10,900 from the Innovative Technology Education Fund to provide iPads in six self-contained autism classrooms serving students in grades 9-12 at Gateway Institute of Technology High School.
Known as the Learning and Communicating Using iPads Project, the District will incorporate the iPads into instructional learning by utilizing applications recommended by Autism Speaks, the nation’s largest autism science and advocacy organization, and by providing two full days of technical training for teachers and paraprofessionals by Apple, the creator of the iPad.
The 11th annual Developmental Disabilities Awareness Art Fair will be held Friday, March 4 at the Regional Arts Commission, 6128 Delmar Blvd.
The objective of the fair is to have students from St. Louis Public Schools create artwork that reflects their perception of developmental disabilities. Students participating are from Gateway Elementary, Shaw Elementary, McKinley Middle and Community Access Job Training.

Fazio’s Rock Academy is the summer destination for the aspiring rock star in your life! Campers attend one-week or two-week sessions (8:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. daily) where they form a real band, choose a band name, write their own music, pose for a photo shoot and conclude with a live concert with special guest appearances by professional rock artists! Fazio's Rock Academy is for Guitarists, Vocalists, Bassists and Keyboardists between the ages of 9-17 years.
