The St. Louis County Library Foundation and Pudd’nHead Books present a Reading Garden Event Series program with popular children’s book author Judy Schachner, who will discuss her new picture book Skippyjon Jones, Class Action. The event begins at 7 p.m. at Library Headquarters, 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd.

The program is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase at the event from Pudd’nHead Books.

From the bestselling author of the Skippyjon Jones children’s book series comes a new story about the little Siamese kitten with a big imagination.

In Skippyjon Jones, Class Action, Skippyjon Jones really wants to go to school. School is for dogs, his mama tells him. It's where they go to get trained. But nothing can stop Skippy. Once inside his magic closet, he finds himself on the playground of his imagination, surrounded by dogs of all kinds. He bays with the beagles, learns French with the poodles, and checks out a Chihuahua book from the library. And when a bully starts sending shiver-itos down the spines of the little yippers, Skippy saves the day and earns the biggest gold star.

Judy Schachner’s first Skippyjon book won the first annual E.B. White Read Aloud Award presented by The Association of Booksellers for Children. It has also won several regional children's book awards, including the New Hampshire State Library’s 2005 Ladybug Picture Book Award, the 2005 Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award, and the 2006 Colorado Children's Book Award for Picture Book. Schachner is also the author of “Willy and May,” “Mr. Emerson’s Cook,” and “Grannyman.”
