The mission of the Missouri Department of Conservation focuses on the protection and management of Missouri’s fish, forest and wildlife and to provide opportunities for all Missourians to learn about, use and enjoy these resources. The setting sun and a full moon will light your way as you walk the grass-covered levee which separates the Mississippi River from the waterfowl refuge at Columbia Bottom. Look and listen for the sights and sounds of the “night shift” creatures as they come out for their evening activities. We may experience the “cold fire” light in the flashing signals of fireflies. Reservations are required. 6:30 to 8 p.m. Ages 7 and up. Free. Columbia Bottom Conservation Area.
