At Queeny Park, kids kick their gardening skills up at notch with the Junior Master Gardener program. Modeled after the highly successful Master Gardener program, these classes offer horticultural science and environmental science education, leadership skills and life skills development through fun and creative activities. Children will participate in planning, planting, caring for and harvesting a garden. They’ll also learn about compost formation and recycling back to the soil. Besides having a “hands on” experience, kids can do some good with their knowledge — the produce is donated to the Feed My People food pantry as part of a community service project. Advanced registration is required. Ages 4 to 14. $55 per person for the program. Queeny Park.
