Spring is a very high risk period for teen alcohol and other drug use, and adults must be aware of the consequences of youth decisions made under the influence. Parents must also understand that when they turn the other cheek to alcohol use, children often look for another boundary to push. Too many teens are now learning social, studying, communication and coping skills under the influence. We owe these “adults under construction” our attention.

Panelists include a former Rockwood student whose life was turned upside down on Prom night, Jenny Armbruster, Regional Support Center Coordinator of the National Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse, Melinda Gorman, defense attorney who works with youth and families on drug and alcohol offenses and others.

Ackermann's Swim Program has been teaching children ages 4 to 11 the life skill of swimming and water safety in Kirkwood for over 60 years. Our non-competitive, safe teaching environment builds confidence and self-esteem.
Group swim lessons take place in four heated pools with different water levels for progressive, safe learning. Enroll in one-week or two-week sessions. Hours are 9:15 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, with drop off and pick up at the curb. Visit ASPKirkwood.com to download an application.
