Be one of the first to experience the Missouri Botanical Garden’s amazing new exhibit Lantern Festival: Art by Day, Magic by Nigh tover Memorial Day Weekend. The fun kicks off on Saturday morning when a 70-foot-long Chinese dragon, 40 drummers and a group of multi-ethnic Chinese dancers lead a procession through the Garden. Throughout the day, visitors can check out the colorful lantern installations, Chinese calligraphy, painting, authentic regional cuisine, acrobatic troupe performances, martial arts demonstrations and tea tastings. Watch as local schools demonstrate the various styles and forms of t’ai ji exercises and disciplines, and then join in simple, instructor-led movements designed for audience participation.Special tours of the Chinese Garden focus on the symbolism of many plant species and architectural details. When the sun goes down, you’ll be dazzled with these large-scale lantern sets. 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. All ages. Admission for the event is $22 for and adults and $10 for children ages 3 to 12. Ackermann's Swim Program has been teaching children ages 4 to 11 the life skill of swimming and water safety in Kirkwood for over 60 years. Our non-competitive, safe teaching environment builds confidence and self-esteem.
