St. Charles County’s scenic Klondike Park, situated on Highway 94 between Defiance and Augusta, will be the destination for a Mountain Bike Festival June 11-12. The St. Louis Adventure Group (SLAG) and members of Gateway Off-Road Cyclists (GORC) are sponsoring the two-day event, and expected to attract hundreds of mountain bike enthusiasts from across the country. Riders of all levels are welcome to join in the festivities. Participants attending the non-competitive outdoor festival will get a chance to spend some time with other biking enthusiasts, riding and engaging in mountain biking activities.
“Klondike Park is 250 acres of pure beauty with many recreational opportunities like fishing and camping for guests to enjoy,” said Parks Director, Bettie Yahn-Kramer. “It’s the perfect location for an event of this kind because along with our miles of natural-surface trails, the park also connects to the historic Katy Trail.”
Festival-goers can spend the night in Klondike Park by reserving a cabin or campsite. There are six, eight-person cabins and 41 campsites available to rent. To reserve a campsite or cabin, contact the St. Charles County Parks Department at (636) 949-7535 or visit www.stccparks.org.
