Debuting this April, live on The Repertory Theatre stage, are 15 much-anticipated plays from some local up-and-coming writers. So up-and-coming, they aren’t even old enough to drive to their own performances.
St. Louis will be rolling in the deep when sharks and stingrays
swim back for an encore at the Saint Louis Zoo this season. “Stingrays at Caribbean Cove featuring Sharks” opens on April 20 and runs through September 30, 2012.
It’s a season-long pool party like no other in town starring some smooth operators – bonnethead, white-spotted bamboo and nurse sharks, cownose rays, southern stingrays and horseshoe crabs.
Around the grounds of the Saint Louis Science Center, you
may see people gliding around on a Segway Personal Transporter. Created by New Hampshire inventor Dean Kamen, these two-wheeled, zero emissions vehicles are a fun and eco-friendly way to zip around town.
Thanks to delicious chocolate eggs decorated in shiny
pastel foil, chick-shaped marshmallow treats and brightly colored jellybeans, Easter is one of my favorite holidays. Luckily, there are plenty of fun egg hunts to jump start my sugar high.
Break out the Lucky Strikes, Utz chips and Popsicles!
Following a year and a half hiatus, Mad Men returns to AMC this Sunday and a country of Jon Hamm fanatics swoon.
In addition to producing a bounty of delicious vegetables or
colorful flowers, gardening provides many physical and psychological benefits for people of all ages. Besides the joy of playing in the dirt, gardening provides children with physical activity, exposure to healthy food and a lesson in patience as they wait for their crops to grow.
This is one of those posts that will cause my 5-year-old kid to cringe when he’s a teenager, but I can’t help myself. (Now that I think about it, with a topic like the link between bed-wetting and chronic constipation, I may induce some adults to cringe as well!)
This year you won’t find Peter Cottontail hopping down the
bunny trail. Instead he’ll be kicking it at Purina Farms’ Springtime Village.
Normally, visitors will find dashing Dalmatians, trotting Terriers and galloping Golden Retrievers strutting their stuff during a dog show at the Farm’s world-class indoor event center. But during their Springtime Village, Purina Farms will be transformed into an animal lover’s paradise.
Maybe it’s the luck of the Irish, but St. Patrick’s Day is falling
on a Saturday this year. Come torrential downpours or sunny skies, thousands of people will descend upon St. Louis' downtown streets for the 43rd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The fun kicks off at 9 a.m. when 13,000 runners pound five miles of pavement. After all that exercise, around 120 parade units — including marching bands, floats, huge cartoon-character balloons, clowns and over 5,000 marchers — will head down Market Street. Since this is the largest and most attended event in downtown, get there early to find a good spot.
Congratulations on your little bundle of joy, Snooki!
I know there are a lot of jokes going around about how your due
date coincides with the Mayans’ prediction of the end of the world, but don’t let that get you down, girlfriend.
In all honesty, I feel a sort of kinship with you. My name is Nicole, too! And I also subscribe to the GTL philosophy – except not in that order and without the G and T. So for those reasons, I wanted to give you a little head’s up on what you can expect when Snooki, Jr. enters the world.
If you look out your downtown office building window
over the next few weeks, you may see a tent city rising from the concrete jungle. No, the Occupy Movement isn’t back. Hold your horses because the internationally acclaimed multimedia extravaganza Cavalia is trotting into town!
In the Lou, “pi” often conjures up mouthwatering visions of delicious award-winning pizza. But before this delicacy hit our fine city, 3.14 was known the world over as the ratio between a circle’s diameter and circumference.
Life throws us many obstacles. Sometimes you just have to
flip tires, push dumpsters and crawl through barricades to get through the mayhem. At least that’s the thinking behind Lift for Life Gym’s first annual City Mayhem Obstacle Course Challenge.
Even though the jonquils in my yard have been blooming for
weeks, spring doesn’t officially start until March 20. The first day of spring, also known as the vernal equinox, brings us 12 hours of glorious sunlight.
The warm weather and extended daylight hours also ushers in the opening of the Doris I. Schnuck Children’s Garden at the Missouri Botanical Garden.
With all the viruses going around, the up-and-down temperatures and the spring plants starting to bloom and bud, how's a parent to know what is triggering a child’s stuffy nose?
