If long-stemmed red roses, a
romantic dinner or a couple’s massage are part of your Valentine’s Day plans, good for you! If you’re like the 99% of us who will be at home ordering pizza and watching the telly, here are a few ideas to jazz up cupid’s big day with the family.
• Dress as a Disney character and skate the night away during a free Valentine’s Skate Party at Webster Groves Ice Arena. Members of the Metro Edge Skate Club will be on hand to help kids create valentines that will be delivered to area seniors.
Anyone making a valentine during the party will skate free and receive a voucher for select performances of Disney Ice presents Mickey & Minnie's Magical Journey when it plays at Scottrade Center in March. The Valentine’s Skate Party is taking place on Saturday, February 12 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and is open to kids 12 and under. • Nothing says “I love you” more than a delightful dinner of cheese fries and belly bombers amongst the glow of soft candlelight. From 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 14, diners at local White Castle restaurants can celebrate Valentine’s Day with tableside service, special menus and themed decorations.
A photographer will be on hand so your family can will remember your special night of crave cases. If Chicken Rings and Fish Nibblers aren’t awesome enough, White Castle is offering a coupon via their Facebook page. It’s good for a $1 off a sack of sides when you buy a sack meal. • If your little sweeties like art and crafts, head over to the Contemporary Art Museum for an afternoon of hands-on activities, interactive projects and special performances. In celebration of Valentine’s Day, all visitors wearing red will be entered into a drawing to win a special prize.
While the kids are creating something special, grown ups can enjoy complimentary coffee and pastries. Valentine’s Free Family Day is taking place on Saturday, February 12 at 1 p.m. This free event is open to the public and suitable for all ages. • Youngster can also unleash their creativity at area Michael’s stores. During their Knack Free Family Event on February 12, children 3 and older can create a custom Valentine’s Day card for that special someone.
