Cooking Up Some Holiday Fun at the Kitchen Conservatory

This weekend my daughter and I heated up the oven and made some yummy holiday treats. When it was all over the damage tallied up to one shower, two outfit changes and several rooms covered in icing. Not too bad for less than an hour of baking. While we had a great time together, maybe next time I’ll let Kitchen Conservatory clean up the mess. During their Cookies for the Hearth class, kids will create mouth-watering sweets that even Santa can’t pass up.After frosting festive butter, chocolate and gingerbread cookies with homemade buttercream icing, aspiring chefs can add a signature touch to the cookies with sprinkles and decorations.

Once the kids have mastered cookies, let them plan some midnight snacks to ring in the new year. Staff from the Kitchen Conservatory will help aspiring cooks prepare cookies and cream smoothies, sweet-and spicy pumpkin seed brittle, bacon-cheddar puff pastry pinwheels and peppermint patty brownies.

Apprentice Chef: Cookies for the Hearth is taking place on Sunday, Dec. 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. The cost is $35 per child. Apprentice Chef: Midnight Snacks is being held on Monday, Dec. 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. The cost for this class is $38 per child. Both of these classes are appropriate for culinary masters ages 7 to 12 and are held at Kitchen Conservatory.
