With these cold temps, curling up in a little ball and watching Law & Order reruns until spring is a very appealing idea. But it’s time to hang up the Snuggie and have some frosty fun at the Zoo!
For four special Sundays, your family can celebrate everyone’s favorite arctic animal with penguin-related games and activities, animal biofacts, crafts and more during the Delta Dental Winter Zoo.
• Take a trip to the Land of Smiles during the Delta Dental Stage Show. The Tooth Wizard, his pals Panda, Jumpin' Jacamo and their arch nemesis, PlaqueMan will teach kids about the importance of a healthy smile and how to maintain those pearly whites. In addition to teaching good oral health habits, this interactive theatre program will also educate children on the benefits of eating healthy foods and actively playing 60 minutes a day. To help keep kids on track, each child attending the show will receive a free goodie bag containing dental health supplies.
• Party with the Radio Disney Road Crew in the Living World. Dance to your favorite tunes, play crazy games and win totally cool prizes. Plus, kids will have the opportunity to go home with an awesome Radio Disney prize pack.
• What do penguins like to do on a cold winter day? Play outside, of course! When temperatures go below 50 degrees, several indoor King and Gentoo Penguins venture outdoors for a burst of chilly fun with their keepers. Join them at 2 p.m. for a wintery stroll at the exit of Penguin & Puffin Coast for a 30-minute jaunt down the pathway. You won’t want to miss this unique event!
• On Sunday, February 19, the Zoo is throwing the best family Mardi Gras celebration in town! In the Cajun tradition, kids can create their own unique mask with sequins, glitter and feathers, boogie down to live music by Bob Case with his Wild Accusations and enter the stroller and wagon float contest. At 3 p.m., party-goers donned in their new masks are invited to parade around the Zoo with the Tooth Wizard and Panda.
The Delta Dental Winter Zoo is taking place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on January 29 and February 5, 12 and 19. Admission and activities are free. The Delta Dental Stage Show takes place at 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. (no show at 3 p.m. on February 19) in the Anheuser-Busch Theater in The Living World. Activities are geared for children ages 2 to 10.
